Matt Hertzler joins Avora Consulting's network of experienced professionals, bringing over two decades of experience in athletics, leadership and youth development. His expertise spans clinical excellence, organizational leadership, and innovative program design, making him a valuable contributor to initiatives focused on student athletic performance, leadership growth, and career readiness for youths and young adults.
Matt, a two-time Academic All-American in football, four-time Ernie Chapman Award winner, and team captain at Chapman University, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science. He was inducted into the Chapman University Hall of Fame. His early athletic and academic achievements laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to excellence, mentorship, and community impact.
Matt earned his Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of the Pacific as class valedictorian and achieved certification as a Hand Therapist (CHT), a designation held by fewer than 4% of PTs nationwide. He is also one of only three physical therapists granted pioneer status by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and served as a Content Expert for the Alliance for Physician Certification and Advancement (APCA).
A trusted sports medicine consultant for the Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) for over 20 years, Matt has developed and led programs that elevate student health and athletic performance. His pioneering work includes launching the “Fast Track” emergency room initiative for injured athletes, expanding athletic training at Whittier Christian High School by 220%, and founding the sports medicine program at ProPlay Volleyball Club—now the largest SCVA club in Orange County. He also introduced a therapy-dog program in 2017 that significantly improved patient experience and outcomes.
Matt is deeply engaged in leadership and mentorship. He served on the Friends Christian School board, helped drive record enrollment, and currently sits on the board of Westview, a $12M nonprofit. He founded an internship and mentoring program that has guided dozens of high school, college, and graduate students toward healthcare and leadership careers. In 2023, he was formally recognized by Assemblyman Phillip Chen for his positive impact in the community.
From vision-building and fundraising to hands-on program design and student mentorship, Matt Hertzler’s passion for service and leadership continues to shape thriving, resilient youth and communities.
